Ballston Spa football team seeks playoff berth in new classification

Last year’s record: 4-5 (in Class AA)

Playoff result: won two crossover games

Returning starters: Keegan Zoller (quarterback), Jason McCarthy (running back/linebacker), Zach Washington (running back/defensive end), Mike Lupo (center), Jake Stangle (offensive tackle/defensive tackle), Colby Harblin (offensive guard), Jimmy Prastio (tight end/wide receiver/linebacker), Aiden Gregory (wide receiver), David Rodack (linebacker), Peyton Walsh (cornerback), Anthony Devizzio (cornerback), Aiden Thomas (safety)

Graduated: Tyler Barnes (defensive end), Joe McDonald (linebacker)

Newcomers: Brandon Stedry (offensive line/defensive line), Jack Veirs (offensive line/defensive line), Tyler Beverly (split end/free safety)

Outlook for season: After finishing 3-6 in 2016 and 4-5 in 2017, Toohey said he is hoping the Scotties take the next step in 2018.

“We want to have the first winning record in our program since 2011,” said Toohey. “We expect to be a playoff team [and] continue our program’s progress.”
