Grant Baker scored four goals, including the game winner in overtime, to lift Stillwater past Waterford-Halfmoon 5-4 Thursday, Aug. 30, in a Wasaren League boys soccer game.
Stillwater led 4-1 with one minute left in the first half before Waterford-Halfmoon rallied. Tyler Galarneau scored off a corner kick to trim the deficit to 4-2. Jack O’Brien scored six minutes into the second half to pull the Fordians within a goal, and Nate Powell tied the score four minutes later.
Waterford-Halfmoon’s defense contained Baker after he scored three goals in the first 18 minutes, but Baker broke away in overtime to net the winning tally.
Josh Luca added a first-half goal for Stillwater, while Hunter Guertin notched a goal on a penalty kick for Waterford-Halfmoon.
Elsewhere in the Wasaren League, Greenwich shut out Hoosic Valley 4-0. Charlie Gartner scored all of the Witches’ goals, and goalkeeper Sam Whiting made nine saves for the shutout. James Robert had seven saves in goal for Hoosic Valley.
