The Scotia-Glenville boys soccer team scored twice in the first 20 minutes of the game on its way to defeating Amsterdam 3-0 Friday, Aug. 31, in a Foothills Council contest.
Aidan Nichter struck five minutes into the first half, and Jared O’Connor added the first of his two goals at the 19-minute mark for the Tartans (1-1).
Scotia-Glenville goalkeeper Dominic Jack stopped 12 shots to pick up the shutout. Amsterdam netminder Ian Healy had six saves.
Elsewhere in the Foothills Council, South Glens Falls pulled away for a 5-0 victory over Glens Falls on the road. Bobby Bruschini recorded a hat trick for the Bulldogs (2-0), scoring in the 28th, 71st and 79th minutes. Andrew King and Corey Culverhouse also tallied for South High.
Goalkeeper Ben Difiore had nine saves for Glens Falls (1-1).
Queensbury (2-0 league, 4-1 overall) handled Schuylverille (1-1, 2-1) 5-0 in their Foothills Council contest. Teddy Borgos scored twice in a one-minute span of the first half to lead the Spartans. Ray Jones and Drew Crawford also tallied for Queensbury, with an own goal by Schuylerville finalizing the score.
Ethan Willis made 10 saves in goal for Queensbury, while Schuylerville goalkeeper Drew Phillips had six saves.
