Stillwater surges past Greenwich in Wasaren League girls soccer

GREENWICH – The Stillwater girls soccer team dominated from start to finish in defeating Greenwich 8-1 Friday, Aug. 31, in a Wasaren League game.

Five different players scored goals in the first half for Stillwater. Brooke Pickett got things going with an unassisted goal, and then she assisted on Devon Wagner’s tally to give the Lady Warriors a 2-0 lead. Kate McEvoy, Keelyn Peacock and Quinn Lilac also scored goals in the first half.

Pickett struck two more times in the second half to finish with a hat trick. McEvoy picked up her second goal of the day, as well, before Lucia D’Acchille ended Stillwater’s bid with a goal for Greenwich.

Greenwich goalkeepers Sophia Manera and Faith Ingber each stopped five shots. Stillwater netminder Kiersten Conroy had four saves.
