Scenes from Section 2 football: Voorheesville at Helderberg Valley

BERNE – Late touchdown runs by quarterback Ian Owens and tailback Jake Palmer helped Voorheesville pull away from Helderberg Valley 38-21 in a Class C South Division football game Saturday, Sept. 1.

Owens rushed for 285 yards and three scores, and Palmer added 131 yards and two touchdowns for the Blackbirds (1-0). Jesse Waddell led Helderberg Valley (0-1) with 122 all-purpose yards and a touchdown reception.
