Luca Santabarbara’s big day propels Schalmont boys soccer past Lansingburgh

LANSINGBURGH – Luca Santabarbara scored five goals and added an assist to lead the Schalmont boys soccer team to a 6-0 Colonial Council victory over Lansingburgh Thursday, Sept. 6.

Santabarbara struck less than four minutes into the game when he stripped the ball from a Lansingburgh player and scored unassisted. Twelve minutes later, Santabarbara knocked in a cross from Gabe Comenzo to double the Sabres’ lead. He completed the natural hat trick two minutes after his second goal by striking a penalty kick past Lansingburgh goalkeeper Grant Laustrup.

Santabarbara assisted on Ryan Edwards’ goal in the second half, and then tallied twice more to complete his five-goal afternoon.

Comenzo had two assists, while Edwards and Jared Smith each picked up an assist for Schalmont, which won its second consecutive road game.

Laustrup finished with five saves for Lansingburgh.
