Suburban Council boys soccer: Averill Park earns road win at Guilderland; CBA defeats Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake

The Averill Park boys soccer team outlasted Guilderland 1-0 in a Suburban Council game Thursday, Sept. 6.

The lone goal came at the 17-minute mark. Logan Bielawski tracked down the ball in the corner and crossed the ball into the Guilderland penalty box. Sam Ghent headed the ball across the box to Tristan Shellhamer, who headed it past Dutchmen goalkeeper Ryan Knoll.

Guilderland held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks and had several chances to get on the scoreboard, but it couldn’t solve Averill Park netminder Eric Schuman, who recorded six saves to earn the shutout. Knoll stopped four shots for the Dutchmen.

Ben Fitzgerald and Jack Acquario also tallied for Shaker off assists from Cater Ciavardoni and Zaheer Irani, respectively.
