Class C football: Granville defeats Corinth in North Country battle; Watervliet shuts out Rensselaer in non-league contest

The Granville football team jumped out to a 16-0 lead in the first quarter and cruised to a 32-6 victory over Corinth in a Class C North Division game Friday, Sept. 7.

Cody Rice caught a 66-yard touchdown pass to put the Golden Horde on the scoreboard. Taylor Bourn then capped another Granville scoring drive with a 1-yard run.

Bourn led the Golden Horde with 150 yards and two touchdowns. Gabe Allen gained 48 yards and scored a touchdown for Corinth.

In a cross-divisional contest, Watervliet shut out Rensselaer 35-0. The Cannoneers struck for three touchdowns in the first quarter, and they never looked back.

Quarterback Tyler Beauregard completed 11 of 17 passes for 165 yards and three touchdowns for Watervliet, which amassed more than 360 yards of offense. All three touchdowns went to Najee McQueen. Kendryek Flynn had a 62-yard touchdown run, and Sterling Spoon returned a fumble 30 yards for another six points.
