Suburban Council girls soccer: Colonie doubles up Troy; Saratoga Springs shuts out Albany

Four different players scored goals for the Colonie girls soccer team in a 4-2 Suburban Council game against Troy Saturday, Sept. 8.

Vanessa Jones and Kayla Novak tallied in the first half to give the Garnet Raiders a 2-0 lead. Madison Knowles and Morgan Connolly scored for Colonie in the second half to keep Troy at bay.

Abby Burns and Antonia Alfano tallied for the Flying Horses, and goalkeeper Maddie Rifenberick stopped 20 shots.

Elsewhere in the Suburban Council, Saratoga Springs scored seven goals in the second half to pull away for a 9-0 victory over Albany.

Julia DiMenna led the Blue Streaks with a hat trick, including a goal 2:02 into the game. Lauren Livingston added a pair of goals, and Autumn Soukup contributed two assists. Mia DiBlasi, Liz Herman, Ainsley Cumming and Paris Fennof netted the other Saratoga goals.

Albany goalie Sophia Goldsmith made 12 saves.
