The Guilderland girls soccer team improved its record to 6-0-1 with a 5-1 Suburban Council victory over Colonie Thursday, Sept. 13.
Margot Nezaj and Marissa Gordon tallied in the first half to stake the Lady Dutch to a 2-1 halftime lead. Cara Mortati, Alex Gavigan and Riley Grimm added second half goals. Mortati and Gavigan also had assists, as did Jamie Golderman, Lauren Conti and Maddie Sullivan.
Goalkeeper Kiersten Becker had four saves for Guilderland, which is battling Bethlehem, Shaker, Saratoga Springs and Shenendehowa for Suburban Council Blue Division supremacy.
Vanessa Jones tallied in the first half for Colonie (2-3-0), and goalie Jennifer McCumber stopped nine shots.
Elsewhere in the Suburban Council, Troy shut out Schenectady 3-0 behind two goals by Abby Burns. Kiya Nurse also tallied for the Flying Horses, and goalie Maddie Rifenberick notched five saves for the shutout.
Nicolette Knauf made nine saves in goal for Schenectady.
