Central Hudson Valley League boys soccer: Doane Stuart edges New Lebanon in a high-scoring contest

Eh Doh Kyi knocked the final goal in late in the second half to give Doane Stuart a 5-4 victory over New Lebanon in a wild Central Hudson Valley League boys soccer game Friday, Sept. 14.

New Lebanon rallied from a 4-1 deficit to tie the score on James Lambert’s second goal of the game with eight minutes left in the second half. It looked like the game was headed to overtime until Kyi knocked the ball free from the grasp of New Lebanon’s goalkeeper and scored.

Joey Diprieta and Abe Gordon struck for two early goals to give Doane Stuart the lead. Lambert tallied off a corner kick by Keagan Carson to get New Lebanon within a goal before halftime, but Gordon and Kyaw Lwin scored early in the second half to put Doane Stuart ahead 4-1.

Carson scored off a scrum in front of the Doane Stuart goal, and Paulo Scolari ripped a long shot from outside the penalty box past the goalkeeper to bring New Lebanon within a goal. Lambert then beat a Doane Stuart defender to the ball and kicked it into the net to tie the score.
