Dominic Rogalo caught a 35-yard touchdown pass as time expired to give Watervliet a 22-16 victory over Taconic Hills in a Section 2 Class C South Division football game Friday, Sept. 14.
Donovan Mier scored on a 60-yard run midway through the fourth quarter to give the Titans a 16-8 lead, but Nagee McQueen returned the ensuing kickoff 70 yards for a Watervliet touchdown. Quarterback Tyler Beauregard kept the ball himself for the two-point conversion run that tied the score at 16-16.
As the game appeared to be heading to overtime, Beauregard unleased a Hail Mary pass into the end zone, where Rogalo pulled the ball in to give the Cannoneers the victory.
All of the game’s scoring came in the second half. Dusty Snyder gave Taconic Hills an 8-0 lead with a 30-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Watervliet’s defense recorded a safety to start the fourth quarter, and Beauregard connected with Rogalo on an 8-yard touchdown pass to tie the score at 8-8.
Beauregard completed eight passes for 61 yards and two touchdowns, and Jarahn Parlemont rushed for 109 yards on 14 carries for Watervliet. Snyder led Taconic Hills with 173 rushing yards.
