Colonial Council girls soccer: Holy Names defeats Voorheesville; Mohonasen cruises past Cohoes

Ava Panto’s two second-half goals helped Academy of the Holy Names defeat Voorheesville 3-1 Friday, Sept. 14, in a Colonial Council girls soccer game.

Panto headed in a cross from Julia Tronco, and she knocked in an insurance goal off a feed from Bella Tronco for Holy Names. Bella Tronco scored in the first half off an assist by Grace Field that gave Holy Names a 1-0 lead.

Jayden Kelly tallied off a direct kick by Kaelyn Lawson in the second half to keep Voorheesville within striking distance.

Holy Names goalkeeper Kathleen Harris stopped nine shots, while Voorheesville netminder Leah Weber had 10 saves.

Elsewhere in the Colonial Council, Liv Raucci’s four-goal, one-assist performance lifted Mohonasen to a 6-1 victory over Cohoes. Izzy O’Clair contributed two goals and two assists, with other helpers provided by Matti Swan, Rachel Nadareski and Courtney Bush.
