LATHAM – The Shaker boys soccer team pulled out a 2-0 Suburban Council victory over crosstown rival Colonie Saturday, Sept. 15.
Ian Wu put home Zaheer Irani’s free kick midway through the first half to give the Blue Bison a 1-0 lead. Neither team generated many shots on goal the rest of the half, which allowed Shaker to carry its advantage into halftime.
Shaker doubled its lead one minute into the second half. Hassan Alfadhil sent the ball down the wing to Stephen Guidi, who crossed it into the Colonie penalty box where Irani knocked it inside the back post for a 2-0 advantage.
Colonie had several scoring chances in the second half, but Shaker goalkeeper Justin Osborn stopped all of them to maintain the shutout. Osborn finished with four saves.
