WATERFORD – Two of the better Wasaren League boys soccer teams clashed in Waterford Wednesday, Sept. 19, with Greenwich and Waterford-Halfmoon playing to a 1-1 tie.
The Fordians (3-1-2) took a 1-0 lead late in the first half on Hunter Guertin’s penalty kcik goal. The Witches (4-2-1) responded in the second half when Charlie Gartner put home his own shot from the penalty spot, and the score remained tied through the next 45 minutes of regulation and overtime.
Greenwich goalkeeper Sam Whiting stopped 10 shots, while Waterford-Halfmoon goalie Bobby Valigorsky had eight saves.
