Suburban Council boys soccer: Christian Brothers Academy handles Niskayuna; Averill Park shuts out Schenectady

Christian Brothers Academy’s quick strike offense was too much for Niskayuna in a 3-1 Brothers’ victory Thursday, Sept. 20, in a Suburban Council boys soccer game.

Connor Pierre and Brady Van Epps tallied in a two-minute span of the first half to give the Brothers a 2-0 lead. Niskayuna got one goal back before halftime, but Sumahri Stewart scored midway through the second half to restore CBA’s two-goal cushion.

In another Suburban Council contest, Averill Park shut out Schenectady 4-0. Logan Bielawski and Owen Joyce scored on free kicks in the first half, and Thomas Hacker volleyed in another Joyce set piece in the second half for the Warriors. Dean Buttacci headed in a Bielawski corner kick for Averill Park’s final goal.

Schenectady goalkeepers Ronan Karn, Ahmed Al Zeham and Adrian Churnil stopped a combined total of 14 Averill Park shots.
