Suburban Council boys soccer: Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake wins in OT; CBA cruises past Columbia

An own goal early in the second 10-minute overtime period helped Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake pull out a 2-1 victory over Colonie Saturday, Sept. 22, in a Suburban Council boys soccer game.

Max Nemec’s initial shot bounced off a Colonie defender into the goal to give the Spartans the victory. Zach Millson scored in the 21st minute to give the Garnet Raiders a 1-0 lead, but Ethan Van Vorst tied the score in the final minute of the first half off a set piece by Bryan Pustolka.

In other Suburban Council boys soccer action, Christian Brothers Academy eased past Columbia 10-1 on the strength of Jack Mendrysa’s four-goal performance.

Columbia took a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute before it was erased by Connor Pierre at the 14-minute mark. Drew Decker tallied four minutes later to put the Brothers ahead for good.

Brady Van Epps contributed two goals and an assist, and Keegan Vedder and Sean Calagna added goals for CBA.
