ROTTERDAM – Schalmont scored three goals in the second half to pull away for a 4-0 victory over Catholic Central Monday, Sept. 24, in a Colonial Council boys soccer game.
Ryan Edwards scored twice in the first 20 minutes of the second half to lead the Sabres (7-1-0 league, 8-1-0 overall). Edwards’ first goal was shot near the back line and curled off the back post into the Catholic Central goal. The sophomore then tallied off a through ball from Matt Horwedel for his 12th goal of the season.
Edwards also assisted on Dom Scalice’s first-half goal for Schalmont. A corner kick that deflected off a Catholic Central defender for an own goal finished the scoring.
Catholic Central goalkeeper Noah Miller made nine saves.
