Suburban Council boys soccer: Shaker defeats Ballston Spa; CBA shuts down Schenectady

The Shaker boys soccer team prevailed on Senior Night with a 4-1 victory over Ballston Spa Tuesday, Sept. 25, in a Suburban Council game.

Ian Wu converted a penalty kick at the five-minute mark to give the Blue Bison (6-2-1 league, 7-3-1 overall) a 1-0 lead. Then, Ryan Watson tallied three minutes later off a feed from Zaheer Irani to put Shaker in front by a pair of goals.

Ballston Spa (3-6-1, 4-7-1) scored to pull within a goal, but Ryan Pardo and Jack Acquario tallied before halftime to give Shaker a 4-1 lead. The Scotties controlled the tempo for much of the second half, but they could not get any closer.

Elsewhere in the Suburban Council, Christian Brothers Academy downed Schenectady 7-0. Brady Van Epps had two goals and two assists within the first 20 minutes for the Brothers (8-1-0), while Keegan Vedder contributed a goal and two assists in that time span. Eli D’Onofrio chipped in with a goal and an assist, with Josh Huckans, Michael Puccioni and Drew Decker rounding out the scoring for the Brothers.

Schenectady’s record dipped to 2-7-1 in the league and 2-8-1 overall.
