Patroon Conference boys soccer: Maple Hill edges Taconic Hills in overtime

SCHODACK – Seth Roberts’ overtime goal lifted Maple Hill to a 2-1 victory over Taconic Hills Wednesday, Sept. 26, in a Patroon Conference boys soccer showdown.

The Wildcats (8-1-0) took a 1-0 lead when Luke Charlebois scored on a breakaway four minutes into the game. The Titans (6-4-0 league, 7-5-0 overall) responded when Chris Davis tallied off Kolby Clegg’s corner kick, and the score remained tied at 1-1 through the remainder of regulation.

In overtime, Maple Hill sent a hard corner kick on goal that deflected off the hand of Taconic Hills goalkeeper John Disbrow. Roberts collected the ball and kicked it into the net to give the Wildcats the victory.

The win was Maple Hill head coach Dan Gillespie’s 659th career victory. Gillespie broke the New York State record for most wins by a boys soccer coach two days earlier when the Wildcats topped Coxsackie-Athens 2-0.
