Suburban Council boys soccer: Shaker plays CBA to a tie; Albany handles Averill Park

Shaker rallied from a 2-0 deficit to earn a 3-3 tie against Christian Brothers Academy Thursday, Sept. 27, in a Suburban Council boys soccer game.

Evan Austin and Jack Acquario scored within the first five minutes of the second half to pull the Blue Bison even with the Brothers. Alejandro Torres converted a penalty kick to give CBA a 3-2 lead, but Ryan Watson tallied with less than eight minutes left in regulation to knot the score at 3-3.

CBA had more scoring chances than Shaker during the two 10-minute overtime periods, but neither team found the back of the net again.

Keegan Vedder and Michael Puccioni scored CBA’s goals in the first half.

Elsewhere in the Suburban Council, Albany raced out to a 3-0 lead within the first 14 minutes of the game and cruised to a 5-0 victory over Averill Park.

Kevin Kampula and Marcello Fazio notched goals 1:07 apart from each other to give the Falcons a quick 2-0 lead. Paul Criscione tallied at the 14-minute mark, and Yan Nyein Thu added a goal with 15 seconds left in the first half to make it 4-0.

Mohammed Yehia tallied 15 minutes into the second half, and goalkeeper Will Bulmer had nine saves for Albany. Eric Schumer stopped six shots for Averill Park.
