Colonial Council boys soccer: Rotterdam rivals play to scoreless tie; Catholic Central edges Cohoes

The first Colonial Council boys soccer battle between Rotterdam rivals Mohonasen and Schalmont ended in a scoreless draw Saturday, Sept. 29.

Most of the action was in the midfield, as neither side generated many quality shots on goal. Schalmont goalkeeper Ryan Taylor had four saves, while his Mohonasen counterpart, Tyson Hallberg, stopped three shots to keep a clean ledger.

Elsewhere, Catholic Central pulled out a 3-2 victory over Cohoes. Lucas Kania tallied twice, Joe Piperata contributed a goal and Noah Miller had six saves between the posts for the Crusaders.

Jarron Frangie and Adrian Sherman scored Cohoes’ goals, and goalies Paul Jewett and Jordan Prouty had a combined total of seven saves.
