Cross country: Shaker girls win South Glens Falls Killian Invitational

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Shaker claimed first place in the Girls Varsity division, and Saranac Lake won the boys division title at the South Glens Falls Killian Invitational Saturday, Sept. 29.

Kaleigh Higgins and Leoni Griffin swept the top two places to lead Shaker’s girls team. Higgins won the individual title with a time of 18:14.28, and Griffin took second place with a time of 18:23.09.

The Blue Bison placed four more runners in the top 20 to finish with 41 team points. Guilderland was second with 53 points, and Albany placed third with 109 points.

Saranac Lake had four of the top 10 finishers to win the boys division title with 41 points. Shenendehowa was second with 58 points, and Guilderland took third place with 110 points.

Voorheesville’s Evan Ensslin edged North Warren-Johnsburg’s Brandon Olden for the individual title. Ensslin won with a time of 15:46.02, while Olden finished second in a time of 15:46.65.
