Section 2 Class A football: Gloversville rallies past Mohonasen for first win of the season

Gloversville overcame a 20-14 halftime deficit to defeat Mohonasen 34-26 Friday, Oct. 5, in a Section 2 Class A football game.

Petey Raldiris’ 43-yard touchdown run in the third quarter gave the Huskies (1-5) a 21-20 lead. Gloversville added an 8-yard touchdown pass later in the period for some insurance.

The Huskies needed that cushion, as Mohonasen’s Eric Starr took off on a 74-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to trim the lead to two points. The Mighty Warriors went for a two-point conversion, but it was stopped short.

Julien Deumaga sealed Gloversville’s first victory of the season by catching a 17-yard touchdown pass later in the fourth quarter. Deumaga had seven receptions for 94 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Huskies’ offense.

Raldiris ran for 68 yards on 15 carries and returned a kickoff 77 yards for a touchdown for Gloversville. Starr led Mohonasen with 147 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Kevin York gained 97 yards on 13 carries and scored a touchdown. Alek Britten added a 65-yard touchdown pass to Jared Stillson for the Mighty Warriors.
