Daniel Leach recorded a hat trick to lead Mayfield past Schoharie 4-2 Friday, Oct. 5, in a Western Athletic Conference boys soccer game at Gloversville High School.
Leach got Mayfield on the scoreboard late in the first half on a penalty kick, and then he added a goal off a feed from Britain Goodemote to put the Panthers ahead 2-0 at halftime.
Leach scored off a rebound early in the second half to complete his hat trick, and Anthony Yuret added a goal to give Mayfield a 4-0 advantage. Noah Fagnani and Ethan Drinon tallied late in the game for Schoharie.
Goalkeeper Evan Lehr made several saves for Mayfield, while Bailey Smart stopped 13 shots for Schoharie before leaving the game with an injury. Eddie Bond had four saves in relief of Smart.
The game was played at a neutral site after it was determined that Schoharie’s soccer field was unplayable.
