SCHENECTADY – Ja-Del Whitfield rushed for two touchdowns to lead Holy Trinity to a 23-0 victory over Mechanicville Saturday, Oct. 6, in a Section 2 Class C football game played at Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons.
Whitfield capped a first quarter drive with a 1-yard touchdown run and added a 5-yard scoring run in the third quarter to help the Pride (5-1) post their fourth consecutive victory. William Lawson kicked a 27-yard field goal to cap a second-quarter series, and Nelon Priest added a 5-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter that sealed the victory. Quarterback Joe Tortello threw for 187 yards for Holy Trinity.
Mechanicville (2-4) was led by its defense, as the Red Raiders stopped three Holy Trinity drives inside their own 5-yard line.
