Hunter Guertin and Tyler Galarneau each scored a pair of goals to lead the Waterford-Halfmoon boys soccer team to a 5-1 victory over Saratoga Central Catholic on the Fordians’ Senior Night Wednesday, Oct. 10.
Guertin got Waterford-Halfmoon on the scoreboard quickly with a penalty kick six minutes into the contest. Galarneau unleashed a hard shot that eluded Spa Catholic goalkeeper Preston Famigletti in the 29th minute to put the Fordians ahead 2-0.
Galarneau struck early in the second half off a cross from Guertin to increase Waterford-Halfmoon’s advantage to three goals. Jack Munn tallied on a penalty kick to get Spa Catholic on the scoreboard, but Guertin responded with his second of the night from the penalty spot to make the score 4-1. Jaycen Janusz capped the scoring with a midair one touch off an arcing through ball from Guertin.
Famigletti made 10 saves for the Saints, while Fordians’ netminder Bobby Valigorsky stopped six shots.
