The Queensbury boys soccer team capped a perfect run through the Foothills Council with a 2-1 victory over South Glens Falls Friday, Oct. 12.
Brendan Duffy scored off a pass from Teddy Borgos and added an unassisted goal to give the Spartans (13-0 league, 15-1 overall) a 2-0 lead in the first half. Lanning Torebka followed his own missed shot with a goal in the 56th minute to draw the Bulldogs (9-4, 10-6) within striking distance, but Queensbury held on for the victory.
Goalkeeper Ethan Willis had nine saves for the Spartans, who await their seeding for the Section 2 Class A playoffs.
Elsewhere in the Foothills Council, Hudson Falls kept possession of the Falls Trophy after sweeping the season series with Glens Falls with a 3-1 victory.
Carter Lewis scored the go-ahead goal in the 28th minute, and Michael Hunt added an insurance goal in the second half for the Tigers (6-7, 8-8). Shane Grimes also tallied for Hudson Falls, while Ryan Melucci chipped in with a pair of assists.
Evan Wiggins tallied for Glens Falls (3-10, 4-11), and goalie Ben Difiore made seven saves.
