No. 8 Mekeel Christian Academy and No. 7 Whitehall advanced to the Section 2 Class D girls soccer quarterfinals with opening round victories Wednesday, Oct. 17.
Mekeel Christian dispatched No. 9 Heatly 6-2 at Maalwyck Park in Scotia. Michaela Van Slyck recorded a hat trick and an assist for the Lions, while Mia Biscossi, Bella Biscossi and Madison Show all adding goals. Bella Biscossi also had an assist, as did Bella Harrigan, Olivia Bowman and Jo Galarneau.
Morgan Razzano and Karleigh Seeloff tallied for Heatly, and goalkeeper Alyssa Walls made 10 saves.
Mekeel Christian advances to face top-seeded Fort Ann in the quarterfinals Monday, Oct. 22.
Whitehall shut out No. 10 Saratoga Central Catholic 4-0. Zoe Eggleston scored two goals in the first half to lead the Railroaders into Monday’s quarterfinal against No. 2 Oppenheim-Ephretah-St. Johnsville. Jessica Moore contributed a goal and an assist, and Madison Gould tallied in the second half.
Whitehall brings a 200-minute shutout streak into Monday’s contest against OESJ.
