STILLWATER – No. 1 Bethlehem and No. 2 Shenendehowa advanced through the Section 2 Class AA girls soccer semifinals with impressive victories Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Stillwater High School.
Bethlehem – ranked No. 3 in the latest New York State Sportswriters Association poll – defeated No. 4 Saratoga Springs 4-1, while Shen shut out No. 3 Niskayuna 4-0.
Claire Hutton tallied twice, and Grace Hotaling contributed a goal and an assist for Bethlehem, which built a 3-0 halftime lead against Saratoga. Joanna VanRoyen also tallied for the Lady Eagles, and goalkeeper Shannon Donnelly had four saves.
Leah Radovic scored Saratoga’s goal, and goalie Natalie Jillson made six saves.
Shen – ranked No. 14 among Class AA teams in New York – used a balanced attack to defeat Niskayuna. Catherine Carley, Bella Guarracino, Jen Kirker and Raegan Sames all had a goal for the Plainswomen, and Michelle Clarkin added two assists.
Bethlehem faces Shen for the title Monday, Oct. 29, at 6 p.m. at Stillwater High School.
