Finals are set in Section 2 field hockey playoffs as Shenendehowa and Saratoga win Class A semifinals

The last two pieces of the Section 2 field hockey championships fell into place Thursday, Oct. 25, as top-seeded Shenendehowa and No. 2 Saratoga Springs won their Class A semifinal contests.

Shen avoided an upset bid by No. 4 Guilderland by winning 2-1 on Rachel Sterle’s overtime goal. The Plainswomen meet Saratoga – a 5-1 victor over No. 3 Niskayuna – Saturday, Oct. 27, at 6 p.m. at Gloversville High School. Lindsey Frank factored in all of the Blue Streaks points with two goals and three assists.

The Class A final caps a day of Sectional finals at Gloversville. The triple-header begins with No. 2 Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake meeting No. 4 South Glens Falls in the Class B final at 2 p.m. The Class C final follows at 4 p.m. with No. 1 Johnstown facing No. 2 Hoosick Falls.
