No. 1 Stillwater meets No. 3 Schoharie for the Section 2 Class C girls soccer title tonight at Mechanicville High School.
Schoharie needed penalty kicks to oust No. 2 Lake George in the semifinals Monday, Oct. 29. The two teams played to a 2-2 tie through regulation and two overtime periods to send the game into a shootout.
Katie Krohn scored both of Schoharie’s goals in the first half, and goalkeeper Carissa Palmatier stopped six shots. Gabby Marchello tallied late in the first half, and Sarah Kohls rebounded a shot by Marchello for the tying goal in the second half for Lake George. Warriors goalie Samantha Jeckel had eight saves.
Stillwater cruised to the finals with a 5-1 semifinal victory over No. 4 Hoosic Valley Monday. Brooke Pickett tallied twice to lead Stillwater’s attack, and goalie Kiersten Conroy made 11 saves. Paige Brinsko, Kate McEvoy and Teya Staie notched Stillwater’s other three goals.
Samantha Lanoue recorded Hoosic Valley’s lone goal, and netminder Sarah Sheldon had 18 saves.
