Top-seeded Fort Ann faces No. 3 seed New Lebanon in tonight’s Section 2 Class D girls soccer final at Mechanicville High School.

Fort Ann needed penalty kicks to advance past No. 4 Northville in Monday’s semifinal game at Fonda-Fultonville High School. The Cardinals scored three goals in the second half to take a 4-3 lead, only to see Northville tie the game at 4-4 and force overtime.

After four scoreless overtime periods, the two sides went to penalty kicks, where Fort Ann edged Northville 2-1 to move on.

Sarah Paige scored all of Fort Ann’s goals, while Jaycee Frasier, Kerrigan Groff, Brianna Strouse and Kaytelenn VanHeusen tallied for Northville.

New Lebanon advanced with a slightly more conventional 2-1 overtime victory over No. 2 Oppenheim-Ephretah-St. Johnsville. Emily Schafer’s second goal of the evening won it for the Lady Tigers.
