Mohonasen setter Bryannah Green received the Most Valuable Player award when the Colonial Council girls volleyball coaches revealed their all-star selections Monday, Oct. 29.
Green led the Mighty Warriors with 105 service aces, 225 assists and 42 kills. She helped Mohonasen win its first Section 2 playoff match when the fifth-seeded Mighty Warriors defeated No. 4 Averill Park in the quarterfinals.
Mohonasen Libero Hailey DeGuire was chosen by the league’s coaches as the Defensive Player of the Year. DeGuire notched 185 digs for an average of 3.5 digs per match in 2018.
Outside hitter Sydney Neff from Academy of the Holy Names was named the Offensive Player of the Year. Neff had a hitting average of .562 to lead Holy Names’ offense, and she also led her team in defensive digs.
Voorheesville’s Katy Bablin was selected as the league’s Setter of the Year. Bablin, who has more than 600 assists in her five-year varsity career, was also selected to participate in next month’s American Volleyball Coaches Association Phenom College Preparatory Program in Minneapolis, where she will be seen by a number of NCAA Division I coaches in town for the sport’s Final Four and the AVCA Convention.
Green, DeGuire, Neff and Bablin were also named first team all-stars by the Colonial Council coaches. The complete first and second team rosters are as follows:
