Team: Saratoga Springs

Head coach: Robin Chudy

Last year’s record: 11-6 league, 14-7 overall

Playoff result: Lost to Bethlehem in first round

Returning starters: Dolly Cairns, Kerry Flaherty

Other returning players: Abby Ray, Caroline LaFountain

Graduated: Briann Barringer, Kara Vamvalis

Newcomers: Natasha Chudy, Lauren Patnode

Outlook for the season: The heart of Saratoga Springs’ lineup is the duo of Cairns and Flaherty, who have been the Blue Streaks’ top two scorers each of the past three years.

“Dolly handles the ball at the point. She can create and get to the basket, and hit an outside shot from anywhere on the court,” said Coach Chudy. “Kerry is a quick guard who can run the floor well. She is a terrific shooter with a quick release and passes the ball extremely well.”

With Ray returning for her sophomore season, the Blue Streaks have a trio of guards who can cause headaches for opponents.

“She is a guard who is fast and aggressive on defense,” Chudy said of Ray. “She runs the court well and has an incredible passing ability.”

With a victory over Shenendehowa already under their belts, the Blue Streaks are looking to make their move towards the top of the Suburban Council standings.

“[We’re] excited for a very competitive season and hopeful our talent will take us well into Sectional play,” said Chudy.
