Capital District High School Hockey League: Brendan Dunleavy’s buzzer beater lifts Storm past Jets

GLENVILLE – Brendan Dunleavy’s goal with one second left in overtime gave the GMSVS Storm a 4-3 victory over the Capital District Jets in a Capital District High School Hockey League game Friday, Nov. 30, at the Schenectady County Recreational Facility.

Mike Farina Jr. tallied off a feed from Dunleavy with 3:03 left in regulation to tie the score at 3-3 for the Storm (1-0-0 league, 2-1-0 overall). Then as time ticked down in overtime, Dunleavy took a pass from Alex Bzdell and shot the puck past Patrick Turnbull to propel the home team to victory.

Dunleavy and Cole Pasquini scored in the first period to give the Storm a 2-0 lead. Tristan Shelhamer tallied in the final minute of the first period to trim the deficit in half and then scored early in the third period to tie the game at 2-2 for the Jets (0-1-0, 0-3-0). Jared Caruso put the Jets in front 44 seconds later off a feed from Noah Savasito.

Goaltender Allie Kelley had 18 saves for the Storm, three of which came in overtime. Turnbull turned aside 23 shots for the Jets.
