Capital District High School Hockey League: Shenendehowa skates past LaSalle; CBA edges Saratoga Springs

Shenendehowa opened up the league portion of its season by defeating LaSalle 5-3 Wednesday, Dec. 12, in a Capital District High School Hockey League game at Hudson Valley Community College.

Zach Rupert scored a pair of goals, and goalie Kent Leighton made 38 saves for the Plainsmen (1-0-0, 3-2-0). Brennan Alheim contributed a goal and two assists, while Chris Lasher and Ryan Saelens added goals. Cole Haldane had three assists.

Spencer Carpenter, Taylor Nitz and Jack O’Bryan tallied for LaSalle (0-2-0, 1-2-1). Goalie Paul made 21 saves.

Elsewhere in the CDHSHL, Christian Brothers Academy (2-0-0, 3-1-0) scored three times in the third period to edge Saratoga Springs 5-4. Andrew Blanchard, Riley Lefebvre, Quinn Leffler and Mack Ogden notched goals for Saratoga Springs (0-1-0, 3-2-0).

Albany Academy (2-0-0, 2-1-0) needed overtime to defeat Queensbury 5-4. Anthony Sericolo recorded a hat trick for Albany Academy, with Jameson McDonald and Tom McGuire providing the other goals. Goalie Dan Guy had 34 saves for Albany Academy.

Will Vogel tallied twice, while Jimmy Fitzgerald and Trevor Vogel added goals for Queensbury (1-2-0, 2-2-0). Owen Smith stopped 22 shots on goal for the Spartans.
