Maple Hill’s defense limited Greenville to less than seven points in each quarter as the Wildcats pulled away for a 40-15 victory over the Spartans Wednesday, Dec. 12, in a Patroon Conference girls basketball game.
Maple Hill had a difficult time pulling away from Greenville in the first half, but the Wildcats broke the game open with a 16-6 run in the third quarter that gave them a 28-13 lead.
Natasha Strock had seven points, eight rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots to lead a balanced attack for Maple Hill, which remained undefeated after five league games. Paige Bleau and Lydia Chittenden each contributed six points.
Skyla VanVleet netted seven points for Greenville.
Elsewhere in the Patroon Conference, Taconic Hills outscored Cairo-Durham 7-1 in overtime to defeat the Mustangs 51-45. Emily Mottoshiski scored 13 points, while Morgan Hoose and Marleah Perry each contributed 11 points for the Titans. Arianna Myers had 18 points for Cairo-Durham.
Rensselaer used an 18-3 run in the second quarter to take control on its way to a 60-41 victory over Catskill. Navia Bynum poured in 22 points, and Michaela Cancer chipped in with 17 points for the Rams. Janay Brantley scored 23 points for Catskill.
