Capital District High School Hockey League: Shenendehowa upends Bethlehem; CBA skates past Capital District

Shenendehowa ended Bethlehem’s winning streak at six games with a 4-3 Capital District High School Hockey League victory over the Eagles Friday, Dec. 14, at Clifton Park Arena.

Cole Haldane and Zach Rupert each had a goal and two assists, and goaltender Kent Leighton stopped 35 shots to help the Plainsmen (2-0-0 league, 4-2-0 overall) knock off the state’s No. 2-ranked Division 1 team. Brennan Alheim and Ryan Saelens also tallied for Shen.

Justin Chenaille struck for two goals, and goalie Michael Kurdziolek made 26 saves for Bethlehem (3-1-0, 6-1-0).

Elsewhere in the CDHSHL, Christian Brothers Academy scored six goals in the third period to pull away for a 10-1 victory over the Capital District Jets (0-3-0, 0-5-0) at the Albany County Hockey Facility. Ryan Dollar and Cam James each scored a pair of goals for the Brothers (3-0-0, 4-1-0). David Clemenzi netted Capital District’s goal, and goalie Philip Ryan made 45 saves.

Taylor Nitz and Jack O’Bryan each had a pair of goals to lead LaSalle (1-2-0, 2-2-1) to a 5-2 victory over the GMSVS Storm at the Schenectady County Recreation Facility. Mike Farina Jr. and Collin Lagios tallied for the Storm (2-3-0, 3-4-1).

Albany Academy (3-0-0, 3-1-0) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first period and shut out Adirondack 8-0. William Lenkowitz and Dan Moshier led the way with two goals apiece for the Cadets, and Tom McGuire contributed a goal and two assists. Two goalies combined to stop 26 shots for Adirondack (0-3-0, 0-5-1).

In a non-league game, Queensbury defeated Ogdensburg Free Academy (Section 10) 3-1. Jared Chamberlin, Jimmy Fitzgerald and Tyler Vogel tallied for the Spartans (4-2-0).
