Voorheesville went on a 27-11 run over the course of the second and third quarters to defeat Cohoes 51-35 Friday, Dec. 14, in a Colonial Council boys basketball game.
Ian Owens had 15 points, and Luke Palmer contributed 12 points for the Blackbirds, who did not allow a Cohoes player to break double digits in the scoring column. Ivan Brajac scored six points for the Tigers.
In another defensive battle, Lansingburgh fended off LaSalle 44-34. The Knights outscored the Cadets 10-6 in the fourth quarter to pull away for the 10-point win.
Isaiah Knight netted 14 points, and Trevor Green chipped in with 12 points for Lansingburgh. Liam Mooney led LaSalle with 14 points.
Elsewhere in the Colonial Council, Cobleskill-Richmondville hung on for a 54-49 victory over Catholic Central in a game played at SUNY Cobleskill. Donovan Pacatte poured in 21 points, and Pat Nichols added 13 points for the Bulldogs. Jackson Brown paced Catholic Central with 21 points.
Schalmont jumped out to a 25-5 lead in the first quarter and continued to pull away in a 79-36 victory over Ichabod Crane. Shane O’Dell dropped 30 points for the Sabres, and Nick Boyd contributed 15 points. Christian Pesano had 11 points for the Riders.
Watervliet pulled away in the second half for a 71-48 victory over Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk. Messiah Mallory netted 23 points, and Derrick Benson chipped in with 18 points for Watervliet, which meets Schalmont Tuesday, Dec. 18. C.J. Blanchino paced RCS with 17 points.
