Hoosick Falls started strong and then fended off a Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons rally to pull out a 62-55 victory Friday, Dec. 21, in a non-league boys basketball game.
The Panthers raced out to a 24-2 lead in the first quarter, only to see the Golden Knights respond with a 21-8 run in the second quarter to trim the deficit to nine points at halftime. Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons continued to hang around in the second half, but Hoosick Falls held on for the seven-point win.
Tristan Williams poured in 29 points, while Max Kipp and Jon Kempf each contributed 11 points for Hoosick Falls. Rodney Parker had 18 points, and Lorenzo Marchisio added 15 points for Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons.
In other non-league contests, Waterford-Halfmoon raced past Northville 75-39. Michael Talavera made four three-pointers on his way to a 26-point night, and Bobby Valigorski chipped in with 15 points for the Fordians. Jason Ellsworth led Northville with 14 points.
Jaxson Yacowenia’s 16 points paced Fort Plain in an 80-39 victory over Wells. Dawson Nare had 15 points, while Troy Butler and Robert Jordan each added 12 points for the Toppers. Tyler Bolebruch scored 11 points for Wells.
