Boys basketball: Tamarac upends Fort Ann; Albany Academy handles Newburgh Free Academy

Tamarac used a 23-7 second-quarter spurt to pull away for a 64-51 victory over Fort Ann in a non-league boys basketball game Saturday, Dec. 22.

Bo Catherwood led a balanced Bengals attack with 18 points. Frank Zotto contributed 12 points, while Anthony Ciampolillo and Jacob DeFreest each added 10 points.

Luke Loso had 16 points, and Ritchie Jones chipped in with 11 points for Fort Ann.

Elsewhere, Albany Academy eased past Newburgh Free Academy 68-55 in a game played at SUNY Cobleskill. Andre Jackson poured in 28 points, and August Mahoney scored 25 points for the Cadets.

Schalmont overcame a six-point halftime deficit to defeat Frederick Douglass High School from New York City 60-57 at SUNY Cobleskill. Shane O’Dell netted 20 points, and LJ Randle added 17 points for the Sabres. Jaden Clarke had 20 points for Frederick Douglass.

Columbia outscored Mekeel Christian Academy 49-30 in the second half to pull out a 73-70 victory. Alex Adams scored 25 points, and Dylan Ouimette chipped in with 23 points for the Blue Devils to offset Alex Barnhill’s 31-point night for Mekeel Christian. Ozzie DeJesus contributed 28 points for the Lions.
