Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa scored three times in the first six minutes of the third period to pull away for a 6-0 victory over the Capital District Jets in a Capital District High School Hockey League game Friday, Jan. 4, at the Albany County Hockey Facility.
Noah Sinclair tallied 37 seconds into the final period, and Nicholas Nucci struck less than two minutes later to help Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa break the game open. Connor Cecala added a goal at the 5:35 mark to seal the six-goal victory.
Sinclair and Cecala each had a pair of goals, and goalie Kyle Grace made 19 saves to pick up his second shutout of the season for Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa. Patrick Turnbull had 47 saves for the Capital District Jets.
Elsewhere in the CDHSHL, Albany Academy posted a 3-1 victory over Niskayuna/Schenectady/Albany at Union College. Anthony Sericolo tallied twice, and Owen Robinson added a goal for the Cadets. Goalie Dan Guy had 28 saves.
Theo Angelopoulos gave the Mohawks a 1-0 lead with a first-period goal, and goalie Tony Cotugno stopped 31 shots.
In non-league action, Adirondack played Plattsburgh (Section 7) to a scoreless tie. Ben DeFiore made 37 saves for the Rivermen.
Shenendehowa and Ithaca (Section 4) skated to a 2-2 tie at Cornell University. Tyler Sullivan scored both of the Plainsmen’s goals, and goalie John Sassone stopped 36 of the 38 shots he faced from the Little Red.
Queensbury handled Northeastern Clinton (Section 7) 8-0 at the Glens Falls Recreation Center. Brendan Duffy recorded a hat trick for the Spartans, while Jack Randall contributed two goals and two assists. Goalie Owen Smith only needed to make 14 saves to pick up the shutout.
