Bethlehem moved back into first place with an 8-3 victory over the Capital District Jets in a Capital District High School Hockey League game Friday, Jan. 11, at the Albany County Hockey Facility in Colonie.
The Eagles (6-2-0 league, 11-2-0 overall) scored the first three goals of the game and then used Michael Bievenue’s four-goal run in the third period to put the game out of Capital District’s reach.
Connor Carroll contributed two goals and three assists for Bethlehem, which moved one standings point ahead of Albany Academy for first place. Justin Chenaille had a goal and two assists, and Ben LaVigne added a goal and an assist.
Scott Matson tallied twice for Capital District, and goalie Phil Ryan had 45 saves, 21 of which came in the second period.
Elsewhere in the CDHSHL, Queensbury pulled away for a 4-1 victory over Christian Brothers Academy at the Glens Falls Recreational Center. Brendan Murphy led the offense with a goal and two assists, while goalie Owen Smith stopped 23 of the 24 shots he faced for the Spartans.
The GMSVS Storm scored five times in the second period and cruised to a 9-1 victory over Niskayuna/Schenectady/Albany at the Schenectady County Recreational Facility in Glenville. Mike Farina Jr. led a balanced attack for the Storm with a pair of goals, and goalie Allie Kelley had 20 saves. Cole Pasquini chipped in with a goal and two assists.
