The Saratoga Springs gymnastics team capped its 12th consecutive undefeated dual meet season with a 169.00-144.55 victory over Shaker Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the Wilton YMCA.
The Blue Streaks had eight out of the top 10 all-around scores, with Ava Dallas finishing first with a score of 36.50. Dallas won the vault (9.35), the uneven bars (9.30) and the floor exercise (9.40).
Laura Eberlein took first place in the balance beam with a score of 9.00 on her way to a second-place finish with an all-around score of 34.70 for Saratoga Springs. Kate DellaRatta finished third with a score of 32.60, while Molly Russell placed sixth with a score of 31.45.
Gianna Aquino led Shaker with a fourth-place performance in the all-around with a score of 31.90, while Brianna Morris placed fifth with a score of 31.70.
Following the meet, four Saratoga Springs seniors were honored – Eberlein, DellaRatta, Russell and Emily Ward
Saratoga Springs has not lost a regular season dual meet since 2007 and is aiming for its 18th consecutive Section 2 title when Sectionals take place next month.
The Blue Streaks return to action Friday, Jan. 25, when they host the Purple Passion Meet at the Wilton YMCA. The event raises money for the prevention of domestic violence.
