The Maple Hill boys basketball team moved into a tie with Catskill for first place in the Patroon Conference with a 73-60 over the Cats Wednesday, Jan. 16, in Schodack.
Nate Mannion and Quinn Pratico each scored 20 points for the Wildcats (9-2 league, 12-2 overall), who put the game out of reach with a 24-point fourth quarter. Rian Jewett added 11 points.
Justice Brantley scored 17 points for Catskill (9-2, 12-3), while Bervonis Donely and Devon Haye each contributed 12 points.
Hudson (8-3, 8-3) remained one game behind Maple Hill and Catskill for the league lead following an 81-44 victory over Rensselaer. Lavon Fernandez led the way with 30 points for the Blue Hawks, who jumped out to a 22-10 lead in the first quarter. Fred Wagner had 19 points for Rensselaer.
Coxsackie-Athens got past Germantown 72-68 in a non-league contest. Gil Bell poured in 23 points, and Josh Keifer and Killian Schrader netted 14 points apiece for the Indians. Robbie Eaton had 22 points for Germantown.
Cohoes raced out to a 21-6 lead in the first quarter and cruised past Greenville 67-43 in another non-league contest. Jamar Byron scored 18 points, and Troy Snyder chipped in with 13 points for Cohoes. Damien Fiducia paced Greenville with 10 points.
