Shenendehowa scored three goals in the third period to defeat Queensbury 5-2 Friday, Jan. 18, in a Capital District High School Hockey League game at the Clifton Park Arena.
Brennan Alheim and Cole Haldane each had a pair of goals and an assist for the Plainsmen (5-2-0 league, 9-4-1 overall). Goalie Kent Leighton stopped 25 of the 27 shots he faced.
Brayden Ordway and Jack Randall tallied for Queensbury (5-3-0, 9-5-0), and goalie Owen Smith made 28 saves.
Elsewhere in the CDHSHL, Bethlehem notched the first three goals of the game and cruised to a 6-2 victory over the GMSVS Storm at the Bethlehem Area YMCA.
Michael Bievenue recorded a hat trick and added three assists to lead the Eagles (8-2-0, 13-2-0). Connor Carroll contributed two goals and an assist, goalie Heikki Levasalmi had 24 saves to pick up the victory.
Allie Kelley stopped 56 shots between the pipes for the Storm (3-6-1, 5-8-2). Evan Carey and Collin Lagios scored their team’s two goals.
Christian Brothers Academy posted a 6-1 victory over Adirondack at the Albany County Hockey Facility. Ryan Dollar, Carson Curran, Greg Beaulieu and Ryan McMahon tallied for the Brothers (5-4-0, 7-6-0). Three goalies combined to stop 38 shots for the Rivermen (1-7-0, 2-9-2).
Niskayuna/Schenectady/Albany notched four goals in the second period to pull away for a 6-2 victory over the Capital District Jets at Union College. Theo Angelopoulos had a hat trick, and Kevin Abbatto added a goal and two assists for the Mohawks (4-5-1, 5-8-1). Goalie Tony Cotugno made 23 of his 38 saves in the third period to keep the Jets at bay.
Philip Ryan had 35 saves in goal for Capital District (0-11-0, 0-15-0). Scott Matson and Will Ashley tallied for the Jets.
