Capital District High School Hockey League: Queensbury shuts out Niskayuna/Schenectady/Albany

Queensbury dominated at both ends of the ice to defeat Niskayuna/Schenectady/Albany 3-0 Saturday, Jan. 19, in a Capital District High School Hockey League game at Union College.

Brayden Ordway, Jack Randall and Mason Wildermuth all tallied for the Spartans, who out-shot the Mohawks 42-13. Goalie Tony Cotugno kept the Mohawks in the game by stopping 39 shots.

Brendan Murphy added a pair of assists for Queensbury, which bounced back after suffering a 5-2 loss to Shenendehowa Friday.

Elsewhere in the CDHSHL, LaSalle shut out the Capital District Jets 8-0 at Hudson Valley Community College. Jagger Sessa scored the Cadets’ first two goals, and three goalies combined on a 16-save shutout.

Spencer Carpenter, Taylor Nitz, Nic Pauley, Jack O’Bryan, Matt Powers and Owen Scannell also tallied for LaSalle. Pauley, Carpenter, Scannell, O’Bryan and Sessa all added assists.

Goalies Phil Ryan and Michael LaCouture made a combined total of 35 saves for Capital District.

The game between Adirondack and the GMSVS Storm was postponed due to the winter storm Saturday.
