Watervliet went on a 19-9 run in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 61-47 victory over Mohonasen Friday, Jan. 18, in a Colonial Council boys basketball game.
J.J. Chestnut scored 22 points to lead the Cannoneers, who handed Mohonasen its first loss in its last eight games. Derrick Beason contributed 14 points, and Messiah Mallory added 13 points for Watervliet.
Chase Monroe had 18 points, and Shawn Gillisslee chipped in with 12 points for Mohonasen.
In other Colonial Council action, Ichabod Crane outscored Cohoes 20-3 in the third quarter on its way to a 62-36 victory. Edward Ogden netted 17 points, and Christian Pesano contributed 13 points for the Riders. Troy Snyder had nine points for the Tigers.
LaSalle Institute built a 21-7 lead in the first quarter and cruised past Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk 80-59. Four Cadets reached double digits, led by 16 points from Connor Cepiel and 15 points from Kaylon Dickson. C.J. Bianchino poured in 26 points, and Nelson Ruoff added 19 points for RCS.
Lansingburgh outscored Voorheesville 66-32 over the final three quarters to pull out a 76-44 victory. Trevor Green scored 24 points, Isaiah Knight contributed 15 points and Kobi Wallace added 13 points for the Knights.
