Boys basketball: Tamarac defeats New Lebanon to clinch first winning season in 10 years

The Tamarac boys basketball team locked up its first winning season since 2009 with a 64-44 non-league victory against New Lebanon Tuesday, Jan. 22.

Anthony Ciampolillo and Frank Zotto each scored 17 points to lead the Bengals (11-3), who pulled away from the Tigers with a 21-9 run in the second quarter. Cole Erickson had 14 points, and Clayton Erickson contributed 13 points for New Lebanon.

Elsewhere, Duncan Tallman became Mohonasen’s all-time scoring leader as the Mighty Warriors defeated Schenectady 71-63. Tallman scored 13 of his game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter lead Mohonasen to victory and surpass Phil DeCarlo atop the school’s leaderboard with 1,274 points.

Shawn Gillisslee chipped in with 16 points, and Chase Monroe added 15 points for Mohonasen, which overcame a slow start to build a 33-30 halftime lead. Elijah Johnsen had 15 points for Schenectady.

Another milestone was reached in Mayfield’s 78-58 victory over Saratoga Central Catholic. Trevon Gifford passed the 1,000-point plateau for his career as part of a 25-point night, while teammate Garrett Delaney led all scorers with 31 points. Jordan Catone paced Spa Catholic with 20 points.

Saratoga Springs got past Green Tech 55-45 as Will Fox netted 18 points for the Blue Streaks. Nate Chudy and Aidan Holmes each scored 12 points for Saratoga, while Joshua Hyman led Green Tech with 12 points.

Germantown rallied for a 51-46 victory over Pine Plains. Bryan Bathrick poured in 25 points for the Clippers, who outscored Pine Plains 12-5 in the fourth quarter.

Warrensburg used a 17-0 run in the third quarter to surge past King’s School 69-46. Evan MacDuff paced the Burghers with 21 points, while Dan Cunniffe chipped in with 17 points and Jesse Griffin added 15 points.

Schuylerville pulled out a 69-60 victory over Granville. Nick Budesheim had 24 points, and Cayten Rutland added 16 points for the Black Horses. Jarrett Williams led Granville with 19 points.

Northville jumped out to an 18-9 lead in the first quarter and defeated Loudonville Christian 58-38. Nate Reidell sank four three-pointers on his way to a 22-point night for the Falcons, while Wyatt Sira contributed 14 points and Jason Ellsworth added 13 points. Noah Rogers led Loudonville Christian with 17 points.

Schalmont ran past Niskayuna 70-37, as Shane O’Dell led the way with 27 points. Nick Boyd and LJ Randle each scored 10 points, as did Niskayuna’s Nick Benton.

Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk defeated Coxsackie-Athens 71-42 behind C.J. Bianchino’s 26 points and Nelson Ruoff’s 18 points. Tyler Oravsky had 13 points for Coxsackie-Athens.

Lake George opened the game on a 32-7 run and cruised past Cambridge 86-35. Chris Becker scored 24 points, and Mason Flatley added 15 points for Lake George. Brian Hall paced Cambridge with 18 points.
